DIONAE

Diona
Genus: Bugs?
Homeworld: Unknown
Central Authority: Unknown
Restricted Job Roles: None
Guides: No external guides

Dionae, or Diona for a singular individual, are a species of rather slow but intensely curious plant-like creatures resembling a small dog-sized insects, that have the ability to clump together into a cohesive unit sharing a mind as a "Gestalt". The resulting collective is most often a humanoid form, perfect for any work NanoTrasen could ask of them.

Dionae differ in many ways, most importantly being their ability to split into individual nymphs when stressed or at will, leaving them in a vulnerable state but able to evade danger in some instances. They can reassemble their body upon contact with another Nymph, limb by limb until fully back to their humanoid form. Dionae are also fully capable of digesting most forms of radiation, including normal visible light, or ionizing radiation, serving as their main source of food. Not microwaves, though.

Names

Dionea take names for themselves based upon important, core memories that they decide are weighty enough to use as their title. More specifically, a single phrase describing a formative (I.E. spiritual or heavily emotional) action by the diona. For example: "Drawing Faces Upon The Glass"

Gameplay

  • Dionae are able to split into individual Nymphs at will (with a delay) or upon becoming heavily injured, or killed.
  • Nymphs are small, fragile, capable of vent crawling, and unable to speak. If a player-controlled nymph is killed, Lazarus Serum or being placed in a Botany tray will revive them.
  • Nymphs are, also, a ghost-role, and can be player controlled! They are crew-aligned and will be treated as such, do not use this role to grief.
  • Ran out of nymphs? Ask Botany to grow some, or your nearest Diona to split some off.
  • If you have a rowdy nymph you need to contain, you can restrain them in your hands, or any pet carrier.
  • You are highly flammable, any source of fire will set you ablaze. Beware smokers.
  • Dionae can survive on light alone, and heal in its presence, however they will starve and die when taken out of it. No maints dwelling for you. Also try radiation!
  • You're rather slow, as a lumbering plant-person, walking can take a bit for you.
  • You can survive the vacuum in space, as long as you have some oxygen to breathe, just beware the carp.
