Welcome to Lavaland.
Welcome to Lavaland.

Wildlife
To learn more on lavaland, see Miner.
You aren't the only ones living on Lavaland, there are other creatures who dwell deep within.
Hazards
Lavaland is full of natural hazards. Ash Storms are the most prominent hazard; they occur on a regular basis, constantly dealing heavy burn damage to anyone unfortunate enough to be exposed to the storm. Fortunately, you will get a warning moments prior to an ash storm's arrival, giving you time to seek shelter.

Non-sapient Wildlife
Lava presents itself as the next most common hazard. Stepping into lava will set you on fire and deal massive burn damage. Even worse, the wildlife are immune to lava and can wade freely into it. However, lava is very obvious and thus easy to avoid.

The usual, creatures going around killing you. If you want to learn about them, go here, but usually...
The final threat are chasms; these are rare but extremely deadly and hard to spot. Walking into one will instantly kill you as you fall to your death (unless you have a jaunter on your hand or have flight)! Watch your step.
Gases and Pressure
Lavaland atmosphere does not have enough oxygen to sustain life for most players. The pressure is low enough to give you a pressure warning HUD icon, but it's not low enough to deal actual pressure damage. The temperature is random as well but stays in levels safe for humans. You can use an analyzer to determine how much time you have left until an ash storm arrives.

Ash Storm Proof? Yes.

Breathe? Yes.
Previously, Lavaland had a randomized gas composition which made gas harvesting a lucrative business for cargo. However this was patched out due to lag and balance.
Sentient Life
Lavaland is surprisingly full of other sentient lifeforms, of varying hostility.

Hostile? Yes.
Ashwalkers: A tribe of hostile Lizardmen that worship tendrils. They don't need to breathe but they can't use guns or wear shoes. Their home base has a singularity generator as well as a disk that gives the AI malfunctioning abilities.

Podmen
Lifebringers: A group of podmen who live in a seed vault with advanced hydroponics equipment. Great for people new to botany! Their chemical dispensers offers unique chemicals that are not available to hydroponics. Do be careful if they start planting Kudzu across the planet.

Golems: A band of Golems who arrived by ship that live by their creed of doing whatever. Their mining vendor offers a lathe and imprinter board that can print anything as well as grey slime extracts.
Podpeople are created by a mad <strike>scientist</strike> botanist, and they were sent into the cosmos to help other races. They crashed on Lavaland, and try to keep their spirits up, waiting for anything that won't kill them. They work in a pod with a basic setup for botany, but can not withstand the harsh outside.

Ash Storm Proof? No.
Stranded hermits: Individuals who arrived by escape pod. They live in a makeshift shelter. They have a glowshroom which might come in handy if the botanists aren't growing them.

Breathe? No.
Beach bums: Dudebros who chill in a beach biodome. Be aware that they cannot speak galactic common.

Hostile? No.
Translocated Vet: A veterinarian who has somehow, along with his/her entire hospital, been teleported into a fiery hellscape, you can find a double barreled shotgun to the west side of the hospital.

Free Golems
Golems left home after they were created by a mad <strike>botanist</strike> scientist, named the Liberator. He said wise words to the golems, to indicate their every move to this day: "Yeah, do whatever." They work inside a crashed shuttle and can create golems by using a lot of metal and 10 sheets of any refined ore after that.

Ash Storm Proof? No.

Breathe? Yes.

Hostile? No.

Ashwalkers
Picture Ashwalkers are hunters, fighting for the Necropolis at the north of lavaland. They hunt the creatures, and the creatures
Needed hunt them. They are also mad that you guys are invading their homeworld so do not try to talk with them, they are hostile. They have a special necropolis tentacle that takes sacrifices and makes Ashwalker eggs in return.

Ash Storm Proof? No.

Breathe? Yes.

Hostile? Yes.

Veterinary
It was a normal day working offworld as a startup vet company, when all the sudden they were teleported into a hellish Lava-filled planet, along with two patients, a mouse and a cow. Damn bluespace terrorists. Will they survive? Will the mouse ever recover from it's cancer? Should you really be feeding the mouse cyanide for chemotherapy? It's up to you.

Ash Storm Proof? No.

Prisoners
Prisoners were going to a high security prison, where they keep the worst of the worst, for crimes unspoken, when suddenly, fate gave them a second chance. Next thing they knew, they were on a crashed ship, on a hostile moon, with only each other for help. Easily the hardest to survive, they have no tools and no way to heal, even the vets had an easier time.

Ash Storm Proof? No.

Additionally, bluespace crystals sometimes spawn on mining. These crystals can be used in various ways. Give them to science to increase bluespace science, hold onto them to use as a risk free jaunter, or throw them at people to make them teleport randomly (often into space.)

Other Classified Things
Loot
I'm not going to spoil all the riches and loot here, you have to discover it yourself, you buzzkill. No, really. Spoiling everything in Lavaland takes away from it's life. If everyone knows about everything in it, they will get bored/make a system, and the last thing we want is to have Lavaland be a system. I mean, it's randomly generated for chrisakes.

Necropolis
Somewhere, in the wastes of Lavaland, there is a great fortress. It wouldn't be wise to even attempt to enter, though no sane man would do that, right? Seriously, though, don't knock on the door of the Necropolis unless you want to die really fast. Like, almost instantly, really.

Additional Notes
[1]The reason I say maybe is because the Prisoners have the hardest time surviving, so really I could understand if they kill a miner for loot. - Armhulen (talk) 17:54, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Lavaland Syndicate: A base filled with up to 4 syndicate agents and lots of syndicate loot, if you are lucky, no one is there and you can get it for free. Be careful however as they are armed with sniper rifles and and one E-sword as well as a plethora of viruses or chemical bombs if left alone for too long. Their documents next to their self destruct terminal often sells for good money as a bounty.

"Hey, this isn't the asteroid!"

Lavaland is the new primary workplace for Shaft Miners, not to be confused with another dangerous plasma rich area. After exhausting all the hostile wildlife minerals on the asteroid, Nanotrasen scoured space around the station for a new source for that sweet, sweet Plasma. Unluckily for you, they found a young planet almost completely covered in lava and a host of deadly creatures. By that, we mean there are literal real fucking dragons roaming around. Did we mention the ash storms? There are ash storms as well. Don't forget to grab a bluespace shelter capsule. You're definitely gonna want one of those. Welcome to Lavaland.

To learn more on lavaland, see Miner.

Lava presents itself as the next most common hazard. Stepping into lava will set you on fire and deal massive burn damage. Even worse, the wildlife are immune to lava and can wade freely into it. However, lava is very obvious and thus easy to avoid.

Previously, Lavaland had a randomized gas composition which made gas harvesting a lucrative business for cargo. However this was patched out due to lag and balance.

Beach bums: Dudebros who chill in a beach biodome. Be aware that they cannot speak galactic common.

Translocated Vet: A veterinarian who has somehow, along with his/her entire hospital, been teleported into a fiery hellscape, you can find a double barreled shotgun to the west side of the hospital.
