====Brig Procedures====
Standard Operational Procedures for brigging are as follows:
=====Step 1: Charging=====
# Remove their ID and swipe it over the brig computer.
#* If no ID is present, enter their name manually. The system will recognize a correct name and adjust accordingly.
# Use the interface to set the applicable charge, apply any relevant modifiers, and enter any required Crime Details.
# Double-check the sentence time and adjust if needed. The interface's recommended times are '''only a guide''' and may be wrong.
=====Step 2: Processing=====
# With the prisoner grabbed, stand on top of the locker and empty '''all''' of their belongings into it.
#* '''Non-Permanent prisoners''' may keep their undersuit, shoes (if nothing is hidden inside), and headset.
#* '''Permanent prisoners''' should be entirely stripped and given an inmate's uniform.
# Lock the locker by swiping their prisoner ID over it.
# Drag the prisoner into the brig area, uncuff them, and hand them their prisoner ID.
=====Step 3: Searching Belongings=====
Once the prisoner is secured, file the dispensed paper with the warden and search their locker:
# Check for anything illegal, contraband, or stolen.
#* Inspect pockets of jackets and the insides of shoes and boxes.
# Confiscate any contraband, stolen items, or tools used to commit crimes.
#* Place these in '''evidence''' until they can be returned to their rightful owners.
# Close and lock the locker. If contraband raises the severity of the charges, adjust the sentence accordingly.
#* ''Example: A prisoner arrested for assault (10 minutes) is found with a hand teleporter. Theft of a hand teleporter is a capital offense, the sentence must be upgraded.''
=====Labor Camp=====
For prisoners assigned to [[Labor Camp]] duty:
# Insert the prisoner and an empty prisoner ID into a [[Prisoner Management Console]].
# Assign a point quota based on their sentence ('''100 points per minute''' that would otherwise be served in the brig).
# Give them the ID and ship them to the Labor Camp, or use the teleportation function. If the teleport function is used, all their items will be stripped and stored automatically for their retrieval.

  1. Code blue: "Security is authorized to use lethal force on suspects suspected of Major or greater crimes who actively flee and resist arrest, and suspects who assault officers without responding to verbal warnings to stop."
  2. Code Red: "Security is allowed to use lethal force with extreme prejudice on individuals who actively disrupt combat efforts. Proper justification is expected after the crisis ends; use of this clause for trivial matters can be considered assault or manslaughter, depending on the outcome."
  3. Code Black: "Security is allowed to use lethal force with extreme prejudice on individuals who actively disrupt combat efforts. Proper justification is expected after the crisis ends; use of this clause for trivial matters can be considered assault or manslaughter, depending on the outcome."
  4. Code Delta: "All orders from Heads of Staff and security must be followed, any disobedience is punishable by death."

//////////////////////////////////////// REVISED VERSION /////////////////////////////////////////////////

Use of Deadly Force

Deadly Force, any action reasonably expected to cause death or bodily harm, is forbidden unless one of the situations below applies AND non‑lethal options cannot resolve it. This section is the final authority; references elsewhere on the wiki may be disregarded. Non‑lethal equipment must always be used when it is capable of resolving the situation.

Authorized Situations

Deadly Force is permitted only when at least one of the following is true:

  • Self-Defense: If no non-lethal option is available, Deadly Force is authorized to be used on suspects who persistently assault officers without responding to verbal warnings to stop.
  • Ongoing Security Alert: The alert has been formally raised, command has declared it over comms, or a code‑red‑level situation exists with no command present. Follow Guidelines below for further details:
    • Martial Law(Red, Black): Deadly Force is authorized against any individual who is actively disrupting combat efforts.
    • Delta Alert: Deadly Force is authorized against any individual disobeying a direct order from either security or a member of the command team.
  • Non‑lethals ineffective: Non‑lethal weapons have been correctly used and failed, or the target is known to be immune to them.
  • Extreme risk during apprehension: Approaching the target would cause immediate, unavoidable severe harm, the target cannot be isolated from the danger, and retreat or non‑lethal options are insufficient. (e.g. a suspect carrying a triggerable explosive.)
  • Armed and actively dangerous: The suspect is reasonably believed to be armed (including stun weapons) and has taken clear action showing intent to use the weapon. Any unauthorized person inside the Armory is automatically considered armed and dangerous.
  • Overwhelming numbers: The officer is physically attacked by three or more hostiles and retreat is impossible.
  • Uncontainable suspect: The target possesses abilities or tools that defeat all containment methods and has already attempted escape using them.

Absolute Prohibitions

Every usage of deadly force requires proper justification after the fact. If proper justification is not provided, an officer may be charged with any appropriate crimes committed, up to and including prime murder.

Deadly Force is never permitted:

  • As punishment or intimidation, unless authorized by the Captain as part of a capital sentence.
  • Against fleeing or unarmed individuals who do not meet an authorized category above.
  • When any non‑lethal option remains effective.
  • Based on suspicion or incomplete information alone.

///////////////////////////////////////////BRIGGING PROCEDURES//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Brig Procedures

Standard Operational Procedures for brigging are as follows:

Step 1: Charging
  1. Remove their ID and swipe it over the brig computer.
    • If no ID is present, enter their name manually. The system will recognize a correct name and adjust accordingly.
  2. Use the interface to set the applicable charge, apply any relevant modifiers, and enter any required Crime Details.
  3. Double-check the sentence time and adjust if needed. The interface's recommended times are only a guide and may be wrong.
Step 2: Processing
  1. With the prisoner grabbed, stand on top of the locker and empty all of their belongings into it.
    • Non-Permanent prisoners may keep their undersuit, shoes (if nothing is hidden inside), and headset.
    • Permanent prisoners should be entirely stripped and given an inmate's uniform.
  2. Lock the locker by swiping their prisoner ID over it.
  3. Drag the prisoner into the brig area, uncuff them, and hand them their prisoner ID.
Step 3: Searching Belongings

Once the prisoner is secured, file the dispensed paper with the warden and search their locker:

  1. Check for anything illegal, contraband, or stolen.
    • Inspect pockets of jackets and the insides of shoes and boxes.
  2. Confiscate any contraband, stolen items, or tools used to commit crimes.
    • Place these in evidence until they can be returned to their rightful owners.
  3. Close and lock the locker. If contraband raises the severity of the charges, adjust the sentence accordingly.
    • Example: A prisoner arrested for assault (10 minutes) is found with a hand teleporter. Theft of a hand teleporter is a capital offense, the sentence must be upgraded.
Labor Camp

For prisoners assigned to Labor Camp duty:

  1. Insert the prisoner and an empty prisoner ID into a Prisoner Management Console.
  2. Assign a point quota based on their sentence (100 points per minute that would otherwise be served in the brig).
  3. Give them the ID and ship them to the Labor Camp, or use the teleportation function. If the teleport function is used, all their items will be stripped and stored automatically for their retrieval.

See Labor Camp for full details.
