These are the seperate rulesets for our servers. Keep in mind that while some rules have similar or identical names, their contents are vastly different. You are expected to follow all of these rules while playing on our servers.

Rules

LRP (Golden) Rules

Admin Discretion

  • Admins have the authority to 'ignore' rules when they feel it's in the best interest of the server/playerbase. They will, however, be fully accountable for their actions. Listen to them without argument during the round, but if you feel there is a problem with their actions, report them on the forums afterwards. The Admin Conduct that the staff are expected to follow can be found here.

Be Excellent to Each Other

  • Be patient with other players and assist them when you can. Especially new ones.
  • Do not excessively bully/harass other players in or out of game.
  • ERP is banned as this server contains minors.
  • Lawyering rules/silicon laws provided in game is not encouraged.
  • Don’t attack/damage the arrivals shuttle, and do not attack anyone until they have left the area at least once.
  • Annoying spam that'd otherwise get you in minor trouble will get you punished harshly when it involves racial, homophobic or discriminative slurs. Otherwise, usage of slurs must have some sort of IC value and can get you in IC trouble (Minor brig sentence, valid to the receiving end). Admins also reserve the right to mess with you if you decide to use such language, though not to the point where you're put out of the round.

Validity Rules

  • Once a player is valid, they can be killed or punished by other ingame means.
  • Antagonists are valid once proven. Suspicions, hearsay over comms, and meta knowledge are not sufficient enough to deem someone valid, but allow for further investigation.
  • Players intentionally cooperating with antagonists are also valid. Self-antags are also valid (act like an antag, be treated like an antag.)
  • Admins can deem a player valid.
  • Mimes breaking their vow of silence are valid.
  • ERP and Spamming radio/communications makes you valid.
  • Validhunting (seeking/baiting players to kill in validity) in turn, makes you valid.
  • Heads of Command/Security cannot make players valid, only warrant their arrest.

No Self-Antagging or Griefing

  • Self-antagging includes damaging the station, attacking other players without a valid reason, and subverting the established chain of command as a non-antagonist role.
  • Griefing includes intentionally ruining the game by abusing ingame mechanics (exploits, force crashes/lag, spamming shuttle delay, ect.)
  • You may defend yourself against others in any way you are capable, but you must avoid escalating the situation if possible.

Antagonist Conduct (LRP/Golden)

Antagonists are exempt from IC rules, barring rules regarding erotic roleplay, unless stated otherwise under this. Antagonists must work with their team if they have one, though they may kill other independent antagonists. As a team antag, do not blow the cover of your team if they intend to act stealthily. This applies to team lings as well!

Murderboning

Murderboning is defined as the indiscriminate killing of multiple parties for absolutely no reason. Isolated killings are not murderboning.

  • An independent antagonist with a set of objectives must complete at least half of their objectives, rounded up, before murderboning. Having a Hijack or Martyr objective allows an antagonist to murderbone indiscriminately.
  • Wizards, Nuclear operatives, and antagonists with no objectives (such as Nightmare or Morph), may murderbone as they please
  • Cultists may only murderbone once they reach the halo stage. This also applies to other antags with “stealthy” forms- hivemind, devil, etc. They may only murderbone when they have been revealed.
  • Revolutionaries and Gangsters should not murder potential converts, meaning non-mindshielded, non gang personell should be detained or beat into a critical state for conversion. Conversion resistant races, like Plasmamen for revs or IPC’s for gang are difficult to impossible to convert, and may be treated as if they were mindshielded.
  • Internal affairs agents may not murderbone, but external affairs may.
  • Abductors must avoid killing, unless the target has proved themselves a significant threat to them. Abductors may kill those who they cannot do experimental organ replacement on with impunity.
  • Certain midround antags (Obsessed, Fugitives, those who gain objectives via abductor organ/brainwash etc) may never murderbone. They are allowed to follow lavaland escalation, but may only kill unprovoked with the intent of completing their objectives.
Murderbone items
  • There are two role-specific traitor items that either greatly encourage or flat out require murderbone, these being the clown car and His Grace. Murderboning with these will not be punished.

High Death Roles

  • If your role has a method of indiscriminate killing (That is not just walking up to someone with a weapon your role has!), such as an atmos tech opening fusion canisters or a virologist releasing a death plague, they may use these as antag at any time, as long as their antag is allowed to kill already (sorry, virologist who injected himself with fentanyl to gain Obsessed) For obvious reasons, they must be tactful when using these as team antag. This rule is to allow people to shine with their role when they finally get an antagonistic role.

AHelp and Ticket Conduct

  • Leaving/Ignoring an admin PM will automatically label you guilty.
  • Showing respect and patience with admins has proven to make them more lenient.
  • An admins ruling on a issue is final for that round. Do not try to bring it up again.
  • Do not immediately ask if the person who killed you is an antag, you will be rejected. If you are still uncertain if your death was valid, spectate them and see if they are performing additional unruly behavior before reporting.

Meta and Communications

  • Using outside sources of information/software on the round to gain an advantage over players is not tolerated.
  • In character communication in out of character channels (ICK OCK) is not allowed. Discussing out-of-round information ingame is also not tolerated. This refers to admin tickets and references to reporting other players (eg. "I'm ahelping you for doing that") as well as any information that was obtained through channels considered as ICK OCK.
  • Recordings and Streaming are allowed. Streams are required to have a minimum 1 minute delay for broadcasting and are responsible for any metacommunications in their chat feed. Recordings must not be uploaded until the round has ended.
  • You cannot attack players over events that occured in a previous life. This includes ghost respawns, and new rounds. This does not include cloning.
  • Multikeying (using more than 1 CKEY) will get you banned.
  • If you wish to use metacomms to assist new players, you must consult an Admin beforehand. After that, it's fine.

Job Specific Policies

You are expected to follow these rules for virology and Silicon (borg, AI etc.) roles. You are advised to play these roles after being somewhat familiar with the game as they are a bit more demanding.

Silicon Policy

Virology Policy

No Ban-Evading or Multikeying

  • If you've been banned, you probably deserved it. Accept responsibility for your actions and wait to be unbanned. You can file an appeal or admin complaint on the forums if you genuinely feel you didn't deserve it.
  • Do not attempt to bypass a ban by using another account, using another IP address, or any other means. All of your accounts will be permabanned, no exceptions.
  • The only exception is if you were banned for having an offensive ckey, and you created a new account with an inoffensive ckey.
  • No multikeying. Multikeying is defined as logging into the server with two or more separate accounts during the same round. Multikeying will result in a permaban.

No Advertising/Recruiting

  • Do not post byond:// links or IPs to other servers and talk about how much better you think said servers are. People are more than welcome to play elsewhere, you're just being rude.
  • Obviously, players are aware that other servers exist and may freely discuss them. Just don't be an ass about it.
  • Do not try to lure players to the containment servers without making them aware of what they are getting into.
  • If you attempt to poach/recruit our staff members, we reserve the right to laugh nervously while we tighten the leashes and silence your heresy.

Common Sense

Common sense is expected. If you are uncertain about a niche thing, look up a ruling for it here. You are welcome to ask questions on our Discord. Have fun!

MRP (Sage) Rules

Admin Discretion

  • Admins have the authority to 'ignore' rules when they feel it's in the best interest of the server/playerbase. They will, however, be fully accountable for their actions. Listen to them without argument during the round, but if you feel there is a problem with their actions, report them on the forums afterwards. The Admin Conduct that the staff are expected to follow can be found here.

Use Common Sense

  • If everybody followed this rule, none of the others would be necessary.
  • In the immortal words of Bill and Ted, "Be excellent to each other."
  • If you suspect something might lead to you being banned, it probably is bannable. The rules cannot cover all possible cases, and the roleplay server is much stricter than the main server.
  • If you are not sure whether something would be considered against the rules, use adminhelp.
  • If you were given permission by admins to do something once, that does not necessarily mean you can do it again.

Be Excellent to Each Other

  • Be patient with players and try to assist them, especially new ones.
  • Don't harass players or staff in OOC or outside the game. You have some wiggle room in character (IC), but expect IC consequences.
  • ERP is not tolerated, you will be permabanned. We may or may not share the logs so others can laugh at you. Go to a containment server if you want to ERP.
  • "Toeing the line" is not permitted. Do not try to bypass the rules by bending them or ignoring the rule's intention.
  • Racial and homophobic slurs are not permitted.

You Must Roleplay

  • Your character is a grown adult working on a research station for a major company. You are a professional. Act like it.
  • Netspeak (lol, wtf, brb, etc.) is not permitted in character (IC).
  • Using emotes to speak when you other wise can't, may result in punishment.
  • Use a lore-friendly name, and follow the naming conventions for your species. Do not use the names of famous real/fictional people/characters. Naming yourself after pop-culture items, icons, or references is also prohibited. Only clowns can use meme names.
  • Have knowledge of your role. If you are new to the game, we recommend playing on our main server instead.
  • Respect space law and standard operating procedures. Committing minor crimes is justifiable through roleplay, but major crimes should typically be avoided.

Don't Self Antag

  • Self-antagging includes (but is not limited to) damaging the station, attacking other players without reason, and subverting the established chain of command as a non-antagonist role. You need a reason justified by roleplay to cause harm to others.
  • Griefing includes (but is not limited to) intentionally ruining the game by abusing mechanics such as exploits, spamming the shuttle, causing server crashes, etc.
  • You may defend yourself against others, but avoid escalating the situation.
  • Admins can punish you if they believe your actions are unjustified or over-escalating the situation.
  • Even if your actions are justified and do not result in out-of-character (OOC) consequences, you may still face consequences in character (IC).
  • No, roleplaying as an "insane person" does not mean you get to kill people.

Antagonist Conduct

Antagonists are exempt from IC rules, barring rules regarding erotic roleplay and bigotry, unless stated otherwise under this. Antagonists must work with their team if they have one. As a team antag, do not blow the cover of your team if they intend to act stealthily. This applies to team lings as well!

Murderboning

Murderboning is defined as indiscriminate killing of multiple parties for absolutely no reason. Isolated killings are not murderboning.

Any antagonist not mentioned below who does not have a Hijack or Martyr objective/murderbone item (also listed below) may not murderbone.

  • Wizards, Nuclear Operatives, Space Ninjas and Space Dragons may murderbone as they please.
  • Abductors must not kill any targets that do not directly threaten them. They are expected to return targets to a place that makes sense, and not take any items the abductors do not need, or that will not be dangerous to the abductors, to be left with them. Abductor’s goal is to experiment and observe!
  • Internal affairs agents may not murderbone. External Affairs Agents may.
Murderbone Items

There are two role-specific traitor items that either greatly encourage or flat out require murderbone, these being the clown car and His Grace. Murderboning with these will not be punished.

Behaviour

  • Antagonists with no objectives must act in ways suiting their nature. The goal of a Morph is to eat everything , the goal of a Nightmare is to snuff out all lights- and those who keep the station lit. Even Xenomorphs must act for their objective. Their primary goal is to breed and protect their hive.
  • All antagonists MUST put their objectives first, and not act contrary to their objectives, unless greentext becomes impossible!
  • Antagonists need not hesitate to defend themselves or eliminate witnesses, or people who are “in the way”! While deadchat may be salty and yell at you for murderboning, these do not constitute murderbone, even on MRP. This isn’t a hugbox.
  • If you’re able to assassinate security with a low collateral damage method, then you’re allowed to do so preemptively before they’ve shown that they’re a direct threat to you. For example e-swording them in maint would be okay, but maxcapping the brig would not. Abductors already have different rules regarding murder (i.e. avoid it) which applies to them above this rule

No Powergaming

  • As a non-security & non-command crewmember, you're not an experienced soldier. Do not rush into danger without reason.
  • Do not collect dangerous items, weapons, or tools "just in case". Do not wear a hardsuit, riot suit, or similar bulky/uncomfortable armor for the entire round.
  • Mundane items that an everyday person would have (tools, insuls, sunglasses, soap) are not powergaming unless used specifically in a way that breaks another rule. In those cases it will add to increasing punishments for powergaming.
  • Use reasonable self-defense; subdue, but do not try to revenge-kill, any assailants.
  • Do not run around with all of the genetic powers, three buffing viruses and the entire armory in your backpack. This is an example of severe powergaming.
  • Antags are exempt from this rule.

No Metagaming

  • Using knowledge your character should not have is not allowed. This includes (but is not limited to) all knowledge you gain as a ghost.
  • In character (IC) communication in out-of-character (OOC) channels, Discord, or other platforms is not allowed. You cannot discuss an ongoing round until the round has ended.
  • Recording and streaming are allowed. Streams must have a minimum 1 minute delay and are responsible for any metacommunications in their chat feed. Recordings must not be uploaded until the round has ended.
  • You cannot attack or accuse players as a result of events that occurred in a previous life. When you are cloned, you do not know who your killer is unless someone else tells you.

Leaving the Game

  • All players are strongly encouraged to use the cryopods to exit the round. This frees up the job slot so someone else can take it.
  • You will not be punished for logging out after a round starts unless you are a head of staff or other important role.
  • Heads of staff and other important roles must notify the admins if they wish to leave, or they may be jobbanned.
  • Suiciding or logging off simply because you did not become an antagonist is not allowed. If you primarily wish to play as an antag, we strongly encourage playing on the main server instead.

Heads of Staff Conduct

  • Heads of Staff are held to higher standards than regular crewmembers. You are expected to be a competent person and competent at your job.
  • Heads of Staff, generally, should not abandon their post. This means you should not leave the station on space adventures or explore lavaland.
  • Heads of Staff should not overstep their bounds. For example, the Head of Personnel is not a member of security and should not run around hunting criminals. Nor should the Head of Personnel loot the armory or give themself all-access.
  • The Captain is not an Assistant with all-access. You are expected to be a competent leader and ensure the success and survival of your station and its crew.

Do Your Job

  • Non-antagonists are required to perform their assigned job in good faith. Breaks are fine, but ignoring your department and obligations is not. This goes especially true for Silicons, Heads of Staff, and Security.
  • As people are expected to do their job, you are also expected to let people do theirs. If someone is manning a department, you must make a reasonable effort to solicit them for the service you require of them. If they are absent or unwilling to provide a necessary service or item, you are permitted to attempt to do it yourself, at the risk of IC consequences.
  • Being an assistant is not a free pass to ignore any part of this rule. Assistants are expected to help around the station, not immediately rush all the supplies that aren’t nailed down or behind locked doors - Ask for whatever supplies you need from the department(s) you’re helping.

Job Specific Policies

You are expected to follow these rules for virology and Silicon (borg, AI etc.) roles. You are advised to play these roles after being somewhat familiar with the game as they are a bit more demanding.
